Swagbucks: Start Earning Today!
This month we are going to look at the website, Swagbucks. Swagbucks is a little bit of everything and gives you multiple ways to earn a little bit of extra money or gift cards towards items you already plan to purchase!
Be sure to check out our other Money posts and see how you can make your money work for you!
What is a Swagbuck?
Swagbucks are points you earn for completing various tasks online through their website and apps. 1 Swagbuck equates to roughly 1 cent. So then 100 Swagbucks is about $1.00. I say about…because some gift card redemption values vary, such as the sporadic sale of Amazon gift cards $25 gift cards, would normally be 2,500 Swagbucks; however, periodically go on sale for 2,100 or 2,300 Swagbucks. This gives each individual Swagbuck a value greater than 1 cent.
I have cashed out my Swagbucks a few times and twice I took advantage of the Amazon Gift Card sales, cashing out $25.00 Amazon gift cards for less than 2,500 Swagbucks. These gift cards helped me purchase items I had been keeping in my Amazon cart but wasn’t ready to purchase just yet. I’ll go over more about cashing out your Swagbucks later.
In today’s post I’m going to explain some of the easiest and best known ways to earn with Swagbucks.
Fill out your member profile.
That’s right. Register here or go to their website and first enter my referral code: llc156 . You’ll need that code to earn your $10 sign up bonus. Fill out the required information, and follow any directions they have for new members to start earning Swagbucks and be on your way!
Also, if you are using a computer and browsing their website in your down time, you’ll notice they have profile related questions on the side. These are questions you answer about various things like pets, electronics, shopping habits, etc. For every ten quick questions you answer, you will earn Swagbucks!
Surveys
Surveys are what Swagbucks is best known for. They have a variety available and for varying amounts of Swagbucks. Anywhere from 2 minutes and up of your time can earn you major Swagbucks! For most of them, they will ask a few preliminary questions to see if you qualify for that survey. If you do, you’ll then be asked a variety of questions about a variety of subjects anything from grocery store layouts, to political surveys, banking surveys, electronics shopping habits, really anything.
The amount of Swagbucks available to you to earn varies per survey. Don’t discount a survey just because it yields a lower amount of Swagbucks. You may find that you are not eligible for the higher earning surveys depending on the audience they are looking for. If you do find that you are not eligible for a survey they will still credit you 1 Swagbuck for your time, up to I believe 20 times a day.
You can also use Swagbucks on your mobile device. There is an app available for both Android and iOS!
Watch Videos – Earn Swagbucks
Another popular way to earn Swagbucks is watching videos. While low earning, it is also low involvement. You can watch the videos while completing other tasks. There are two ways to do this:
Desktop
From the home screen, select “Watch” from the left hand menu.
There are a multitude of categories available for the videos so you’ll be able to find something you find interesting, Recipes, News Stories, Movie Trailers, etc. Watch a specified number of videos and once they complete all the way through, you earn Swagbucks. Super easy!
Swagbucks Mobile App
The Mobile app, “Swagbucks Watch (TV)”, is currently only available for Android. But it allows you to watch the same videos and earn Swagbucks while on the go!
Shopping Online? Earn Swagbucks!
If you select the shop option, you will come to a part of the website that shows different retailers which Swagbucks partners with to get money back to you for your every day purchases. Each retailer has a different money back percent, and different qualifications.
What you will do once you choose the retailer you’d like to make a purchase at, is click on that retailer and then click the “Shop Now” button. You will be taken to the retailer’s website but through Swagbucks, they cannot see your payment information, that is all encrypted, they are just tracking to make sure a payment is made. Once you make your purchase, the appropriate amount of Swagbucks will be deposited in to your account within a few days.
Sign up for a Groupon account to earn up to 8% back, you can save and make money!
Cashing out your Swagbucks
On your desktop, on the top right hand corner of the screen, where you can access your account information, select REDEEM SB. You will be brought to a screen with your redemption choices.
These can be anywhere from Kohl’s, to Delta Airlines, to Omaha Steaks and more. Usually they are available at face value, 2,500 Swagbucks for a $25 gift card, 5,000 for a $50 gift card, and so on. Periodically, they will go on sale, and that is when you want to redeem if you can afford to wait! It’s not much, but a sale is a sale!!!
Within a few days, or maybe even a few hours, you will receive an email letting you know that your gift card is ready!
More Ways to Earn
Now that you’ve got the basics down, lets explore three more ways to earn SB and start building up to those gift cards!
Swagbucks Special Events:
Throughout the year Swagbucks will run special events. These last for a pre determined amount of time and require you to earn certain number of points per day or complete certain tasks in order to achieve bonuses or move on. Some are solo events and some you can work in teams with other Swagbucks members. Let’s discuss one of those special events here:
SWAGO
It’s the Swagbucks version of Bingo! When you redeem items from select categories on Swagbucks.com, you’ll automatically receive a Swago game piece. Connect any 5 pieces to win 1,000 Swag Bucks! Look for the Swago icon on the prize description page to know if that item qualifies you for a game piece.
Swago Descritption
This particular run of SWAGO took place from 2/24/2020 at 12am until 3/3/2020 at 12am. While playing SWAGO, you complete the tasks on the board and like bingo, once you’ve got five you can submit! If you want to keep going until the end of the game to see how many more you can get, that’s recommended because you can only submit your board once. May as well wait and pick the combination that will yield you the most SB in your account. NOW while doing these tasks you’ll also earn SB in the process, which is an added bonus! This is a fun way to earn and keep you on track!
I can’t show you the SWAGO board, you’ve got to sign up and join a game to find out!
However, what I will give you a preview of is the PRIZE WHEEL! If you complete a pattern in SWAGO you will earn the noted SB plus SPINS. What are the spins for? Well here is half of the Prize wheel. You’ll find out the rest once you play!
Discover
Signing up for a new service?
Play video games on your phone?
Check out the Discover option. Within the Discover option of Swagbucks there are multiple categories. I’ll go over a few:
In Store Offers
Right now if you purchase two bottles of Aleve at Walmart and upload your receipt to the app, you’ll receive 1,000 SB, which is essentially $10. Alka-Seltzer Plus POWERMAX Gels retail for $6.62, so two of them is under $14 and you get $10 back! Two bottles for under $4.00 when one bottle is over $6 regularly. Sounds like a great deal to me. There are plenty more offers just like this.
FEATURED OFFERS
This area varies. You could sign up for Hulu for $5.99 (the basic plan with ads), keep the account for 8 days and you’ll be rewarded with 1,500 SB. I didn’t see anything on there about a length of time in which you need to cancel before being billed for a second month. If you are cutting the cord on cable and plan to sign up for Hulu anyway, this would be an incredible incentive.
TIDAL Music Streaming: sign up for a free 30 day trial and receive 700 SB after 32 days. Note that I said after 32 days. These extra two days then lock you into at least one month of service. If this is a service you intend on using, then by all means go for it.
Or you could download an app. Right now, download Solitare Cube by skillz through a link sent to you by Swagbucks, play 10 games of Solitare, and you’ll earn 250 SB. Not a high payment, but you don’t need to put any money out for this one. I had the link sent to my phone, as long as you are a new users, it appears as it is good to go. It says the SB will remain as “pending” for three days in your account. I tried to download it, but it sent me to the Samsung Galaxy Store. I have a Google phone. I was not able to try it, but if you have a Samsung phone or iphone/ipad….you should be able to.
With anything, you need to read the fine print. These offers are definitely worth a shot, especially if you can find any that rewards you without needing your credit card number!
SB Live
Swagbucks Live is an exciting trivia show that earns you SB even after you’ve been disqualified. Much like some other mobile trivia games that have come out in the last years, it follows a similar format. A lively host takes over your phone for about 20 minutes, asks you questions which get harder as you go, some trick you halfway through, and are multiple choice. Answer correctly and move on towards the daily grand prize. Answer wrong, and in most other games you are finished.
Not here. Answer incorrectly and you have three choices:
- Exit the app because you don’t enjoy the fun in learning.
- Continue playing and earn the bonus SB for certain questions even though you are ineligible for the grand prize.
- Buy your way back in with SB or if you’ve earned a free return elsewhere in Swagbucks (like on the prize wheel mentioned earlier).
Yes, this does take some effort on your part, but I believe that Swagbucks is a great way to earn some extra money through giftcards in your down time. There are many other ways to earn through Swagbucks which I will cover soon. Sign up today, make sure to use code llc156 when signing up to get that $10 bonus once you complete the required tasks.
