March – 2023 Holidays and Observations
March is here and it’s chock full of days you should be aware of!
Below you’ll find some month, week, and daylong celebrations/observations (mostly US based). These are holidays/observations related to the content of this site that we’ve selected to highlight. Maybe we missed some, maybe we added some you don’t think apply.
If you’d like to know about some Food/Drink/Travel related holidays during March, we have a list of those too over at our sister site, Grecobon.
Which observations will you be making note of this month?
Monthly Celebrations
National Women’s History Month
March honors the women who broke boundaries, fought and still fight for equal rights, and have made contributions to every part of our lives.
National Credit Education Month
Use this as your reminder to check your credit score. Learn as much as you can about keeping a clear credit score, how to fix any discrepancies, and what you can do to improve your score.
Weeklong Observations
National Invest in Veterans Week
Observed yearly March 1st through March 7th, this week honors current and aspiring veteran-owned businesses.
Fix a Leak Week
March 18th-24th is National Fix a Leak Week. Take some time to check the plumbing fixtures in your home to make sure everything is running correctly. Check toilets, sinks, showers, and pipes. Fixing leaks will save you from damage down the road and money on water bills.
Not exactly a leak but see how we fixed the issue with our rain gutter not extending to the proper pipes on the side of our home.
International Women’s Week
The week of the 8th is International Women’s Week. As part of National Women’s Month, we are honoring the women who paved the way before us, are fighting alongside us, and those who will continue the fight. We honor those who made contributions at all times to the quality of our daily lives.
Read an E-Book Week
While avid readers love the smell and feel of a good book, an e-book is another way to enjoy your love of reading. The first full week of this month is Read and E-Book Week, suggesting we consider a different way to read a new book or a long-loved favorite.
Teen Tech Week
Let’s face it, teens are better at technology than most of us “old people”. But we want to make sure they are using the technology they have access to safely and ethically. We want them to be able to use the internet to find print source media, educational resources, peer peer-reviewed articles to learn factual information and not just social media.
National Procrastination Week
National Procrastination Week takes place the first two weeks of the month, or whenever you have time. Take a day and put off everything that is stressing you out. Avoid it all for 24 hours sometime during these first two weeks. You can get to it another day. Use this day to do things you enjoy, a hobby, read a book, or watch your favorite movie; you know, the things you procrastinate doing to accomplish tasks you don’t enjoy doing.
Telecommuter Appreciation Week
Telecommuters are those who work from home instead of the office. Their staying at home lowers traffic demands, electricity demands in offices, and helps keep the demand for gas down (though prices are high they could be higher if more people were on the roads every day). It allows them to be present in their family’s lives by not having to worry about when they’ll be out of work or who can get their children from school or after-school events.
Telecommuters are generally happier and therefore more loyal to their employers. While we know not all jobs can be done this way, we can appreciate those who do, as they appreciate those who can’t for the sacrifices they make daily.
National Consumer Protection Week
Occurring the first full week of the month, National Consumer Protection Week reminds us that we as consumers do have rights. The FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection works to protect these rights. They monitor and investigate ID theft, debt collection practices, credit cards and banking, scams, the do not call registry, and social media.
