Comzler Light Board – Amazon’s Affordable Alternative for Crafting
Using my Cricut Maker to regularly make various crafts, I often find myself squinting to weed vinyl, even with the sun shining through my office window. Short of installing airport runway lights in the ceiling, I needed to find an option. This Comzler Light Board from Amazon is my more affordable and sane option.
There is a brand name version of this product, and those loyal to the Cricut brand have sung it’s praises. However I did see a few people mention finding tracing boards at a fraction of the price of Cricut’s. This is when I got to looking.
About the Comzler Light Board
The light board comes a USB power cord and two magnetic ‘pins’ which are helpful for those using the board for tracing and to keep papers still. The A4 size, as I purchased, measures 14″ long, 10″ high, a slim .2″ thick and weighs in at under 2 pounds.
Though it is quite thin, this is a sturdy product. While you won’t be putting your entire body weight or heavy projects on it, it’s quite fitting for paper projects. And the weigh of your arms perhaps while weeding won’t break it.
This product has a simple design with centimeter marks on the screen. There is one button which is the power button, and how you change the intensity of the light. Three levels of light brightness are easily adjustable to your liking with one simple press. Taking a photo of them wasn’t easy, as the phone automatically adjusted to the light each time. But I tried my best.
Speaking of the lighting, it is LED lighting, and kind to your eyes.
Thoughts on the Comzler Light Board
I quite like this product. It is slim and slips away in a pocket located under my desk, available and ready for each use. Being the approximate size of a standard notebook, it doesn’t take up much room at all on my desk when in use. The light is perfect for weeding, especially at night when the lamps in the room don’t exactly shine where I need them. It has helped me with many a weeding project, especially with dark colors and glitter vinyl, where sometimes finding the cut lines or where the design is going isn’t always easy.
I haven’t had a need for the magnetic pins, and I’m not 100% sure where they are. So I can’t really attest to them. They may still even be in the box in my closet. But if I do ever use them I’ll be sure to update this post!
One thing I do which was different was the measurements along the screen. Perhaps centimeters on one side and inches along the other? Just a suggestion/personal preference. Though for weeding, it isn’t as important. I could see the need for those using it for drawing.

Comzler Light Board – Final Thoughts
This is the more economical version by far, but that doesn’t mean that it lacks in quality. Quite the opposite, I was impressed by the quality of this product and have recommended it to quite a few people who have mentioned having a hard time weeding their vinyl projects. Whether you are looking to purchase this product for that purpose or enjoy drawing/tracing projects, I give this product my full support.
